The fourth-generation iPod nano, introduced in 2008, returned to a taller, slimmer design reminiscent of earlier models but with a curvier, more ergonomic shape. Encased in a polished aluminum body, this generation was available in a wide spectrum of vibrant colors, including a special edition (PRODUCT)RED. The new design allowed the nano to be incredibly lightweight while still offering a large, high-resolution display. This generation also introduced features like an accelerometer, enabling users to shake the device to shuffle songs and view the screen in landscape mode for cover flow and video playback.
